What do Pik-Up drivers say about their Pik-Up?

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

When looking at buying the Pik-Up, Kerry and his wife were influenced by a number of factors.

PRICE: They had compared it to other 4WD vehicles and the price of the Mahindra was very competitive, which in turn prompted them to test drive to see if they would get value for their money.
DURABILITY: They saw the Pik-Up placed 4th in 4WD monthly magazine 'Ute of the Year' 2007 - which they thought was very impressive, especially after only 4 months on the market!

ADVOCACY: They had seen images in 'The Land' car giveaway competition, which they entered many times and really wanted to win… but didn't! They therefore concluded that it would be appropriate for their needs.

Best feature/s:

Their favourite feature of the Pik-Up is that the diesel power is like petrol power, thanks to its turbo diesel engine.  It has tremendous acceleration for a vehicle that is so large.  They also love the flexibility it gives forgetting around town and roundabouts without having to change gears too often!

The biggest surprise so far has been its light steering which they have both loved.  Its multi purpose design is also great.  Kerry has even used the Pik-Up to clear roads after a storm: he was able to have all the gear in the back to clear it off the road and his wife was then still able to drive it straight to work!

Final thoughts…

They absolutely love their car!  Kerry's wife enjoys it too and the dual cab allows her to throw the shopping in the back.  She loves driving a manual again, even though she had been driving auto for some time.

The modern features like the Kenwood stereo and MP3/CD player with the remote wireless tuner are fantastic, although they are still getting used to them!

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

PRICE: Stephen had only intended to buy a single cab, and perhaps look at a dual cab12 months down the track.  The deal put in front of him for a brand new Mahindra Pik-Up dual cab was just too good to knock back.

ADVOCACY: After the offer came, Stephen went home and did his homework on the web and saw some great reviews.

TRUSTED BRAND: He was also relieved to see that Mahindra & Mahindra in India had been established for 6 decades and realised that this vehicle was here to stay.

MULTI-USE: Stephen mainly bought the vehicle for recreational use, and has put on some roof racks and intends on towing a camper trailer to get away with the family.

Did we say he LOVES IT???  He does!  Stephen says that when he drives down the street people look at the car when he goes past - he loves the buzz and attention it creates.  He says many people have asked him about the car and one even thought it was a Hummer!

Best feature/s:

His favourite thing so far is the height of the vehicle which gives great vision on the road and makes you feel like you're sitting above all the other cars.  The roominess in the cabin is fantastic too.  They also have an SUV which he feels is really low to the ground when he gets into it after having sat in the Pik-Up with its 210mm ground clearance.  He says it's areally good ride, and quite smooth for a ute. He used to own another type of ute and says that this is a far superior ride.

Final thoughts…

Recently, Stephen took his 8 year old son to a cricket clinic. There was another ute driver who complained about how much he dislikes his vehicle and was very curious to find out more about the Mahindra. He was also blown away by the great deal Stephen got on his.

Stephen is really excited to take his Mahindra Pik-Up on a long trip and test its fuel economy as well as its ruggedness in hilly terrain.

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

TOUGH: When Peter bought the Pik-up he wanted something that wouldn't fall apart and could handle the dirt road that they live on, as well as being a good workhorse for the farm when fixing fences or hauling heavy loads.

SIZE & LOOK: The deciding factor for Peter was the look of the car and the tray size.  He used to own another make of ute and thinks that they are getting away from what utes ought to look like. He saw the Mahindra's design as what a ute should represent - it means business and is not a luxury car.  He just loves the rugged look of it.

Best feature/s:

Peter said that the fuel economy has been the biggest surprise and is much better than expected.  He has been able to do 7.6 Lt per 100 km, which is much better than the advertised 9.9 Lt.  He says the suspension is harder than some of the Japanese models, but the pay load is better.

Final thoughts…

He has had no issues at all with it to date and given the long distances Peter drives every day, it has proven to be as reliable as the dealer mentioned it would be.  The heavy duty air conditioning, is also sure to keep him cool on the roads through his long drives in the summer.

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

PRICE: Price was definitely the biggest deciding factor for him and so far he has no regrets at all! It's just great value for money, there is no doubt about that and this is why he's bought three!  A smart business decision for him he feels.

WORKHORSE: Ron says it's a really good workhorse and everything they told him at the dealership is true.

Best feature/s:

Sofar Ron's favourite feature is the deep tray. He's been able to customize it and put a spray system in whilst also having loads of room for all of his tools. He has a cover which keeps everything secure and weather protected. Ron has unexpectedly found the vehicle to be very economical, responsive and a cost-effective business option.

Final thoughts…

Ron says when you buy new cars you usually experience something going wrong, even if it's little, but this has not been the case at all with his first two, and he's really excited about picking up the third.

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

PRICE: He got a great deal that he couldn't refuse!

ACCESSORISE: The deciding factor for Greg when he purchased it was the way it was set up with the canopy already built on. This dealer fitted option was perfect for the job.

DRIVE QUALITY: Greg says it's really great to drive, and has had no problems since it's been on the road and he just loves it.

Best feature/s:

His favourite thing about it is how it handles on the road and its fuel consumption is even better than he was told at the dealership. The biggest surprise about the Mahindra Pik-Up is the sheer comfort in the cabin.

Final thoughts…

His wife goes along for the ride in this one, but didn't when he had a different ute of another make!

Name:  Luke Greenslade

Livelihood:               4th year apprentice electrician

Is the Pik-Up solid & tough?       YES!

Luke Greenslade is a Buderim QLD resident who lives on a beautiful 56 acre family property, and as a 4th year apprentice electrician, Luke bought his Mahindra Pik-Up mostly for work purposes from Sunshine Coast Mahindra in Nambour in February 2008.

Why did you buy a Pik-Up?

TOUGH: After having a sedan, he decided it was time to bite the bullet and find a 4WD that would get him through the bog on some of the work sites that he visits whilst on the job.

STYLING: Luke saw Scott the Dealer Principal in Nambour drive the vehicle around town and the more he saw it, the more he liked the design!  So, he decided to test drive the Pik-Up and in an instant he found the gear box to be so smooth that he was sold immediately.

INTERIORSPACE: At 6'5", Luke is tall, and loved the spaciousness of the cabin, and loves that he did not have to compromise on 'creature features'.

Best feature/s:

The luxury extras such as air-conditioning and power steering were also massive drawcards, especially for the price of the vehicle. What he's found most surprising is the fuel economy (so important these days!).  Luke says that he is able to get extensive mileage per tank, which makes it a very economical purchase.

Final thoughts…

Since purchasing the car, Luke has found it really handy for transporting all of his work equipment as well as having a bit of fun with it as a 4WD.  He's taken it around farming areas, rocky terrain and heavily bogged work sites, putting it through its paces which he says it's handled with flying colours. It's no longer just a workhorse that's used during work hours.

Luke loves the vehicle and was recently pictured with his Mahindra Pik-Up in an article in the Courier Mail, the major daily newspaper in Queensland!
